Artist Statement

I draw and paint. I love the directness of these classic media forms - especially simple drawings on a generic piece of paper.

I’m intrigued by curious and ambigious images of daily life and enjoy contradictions and surreal mind sets, as well as an expressionist approach to altering objects. Ideally, this gives you as a beholder, as well as me as the creator, the freedom to generate own ideas but also to engage in a slight feeling of discomfort.

During my studies I worked mostly on canvas using great amounts of layers and mixed-media on paper. For the last few years, however, I have been centering my attention on a conscious reduction of size, form and objects to be open to where this crass shift of creating may take me.
